Our Mission
Warming ocean temperatures, pollution and chemicals are negatively impacting coastal ecosystems around the world and our coral reefs are in serious danger.
Coral reefs are one of the most important ecosystems to the overall health of our planet.
Warming ocean temperatures and diseases are wiping out corals across the globe. About half of the Great Barrier Reef has been killed and we’ve already lost 90% of our corals here in Florida.
It is absolutely imperative that we take action to prevent coral extinction before it’s too late.
Koastal is taking action in Florida to combat these threats by raising money and partnering with research organizations to rebuild and restore our reefs to be more chemical and temperature resistant. Our efforts aim to improve the health of our coastal ecosystems.
Coral reefs are one of the most important ecosystems to the overall health of our planet.
- They protect our coasts from large waves and tropical storms more efficiently than man-made structures.
- They support 25% of total marine life including some of our favorite fishes and seafood.
- They produce roughly 50% of the total oxygen we breath and absorb 30% of our CO2 emissions from fossil fuels.
- They provide precious proteins, nutrients, and income to over 1 billion people around the world.
